About the New Medicine Program

What is the new medicine program?
The new medicine program comprises new medicine benefits for Maxicare employees. It is designed to make sure medicines you need are ready before you need them. The new medicine program has two components: MedEnsure and FlexMed.
What is MedEnsure?
MedEnsure allows employees to get full-year regimens of formulary medicines - not charged to your FlexMed limit. To avail, you just have to click “Request Meds” on maxicare.medgrocer.com and upload a valid prescription. You will receive an email or SMS notifying you when your medicines are ready for pick-up at your office. Most medicines can be picked up at your office within 1-5 business days. What is FlexMed?
FlexMed allows employees and their dependents to buy ethical drugs from any pharmacy for up to their annual limit. Under FlexMed, employees and dependents may also get up to P2.5K worth of prescribed graded/corrective lenses, deductible from their total annual FlexMed limit.

Until when can we avail of the medicine benefits of this program?
Employees may avail of the medicine benefits from January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024.

Employee Eligibility

Am I eligible for MedEnsure and FlexMed?
You are eligible for MedEnsure and FlexMed if you are an active, HMO-enrolled employee of Maxicare.
Are my dependents eligible for MedEnsure and FlexMed?
Your HMO-enrolled dependents are eligible for FlexMed only.

Digital Platform

Where can I access MedGrocer’s online platform?
You can access MedGrocer’s online platform through any device anywhere, any time.

MedEnsure: Requesting medicines

How do I request medicines?
To request medicines:
  1. Click “Request Meds” on maxicare.medgrocer.com
  2. Upload a photo of your prescription
  3. Answer the health survey
You will receive an SMS or email on the eligibility of your request within the next business day.
What medicines are covered under MedEnsure?
MedEnsure covers prescribed essential medicines including ethical drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and essential vitamins. You may check if your medicine is covered in MedEnsure by searching the formulary on maxicare.medgrocer.com/medensure.
Do I need a prescription to request meds?
Yes. A valid prescription is required for your request to be processed.
How many prescriptions can I upload per request?
You may upload as many prescriptions as you need as long as they are valid.
Do I have to surrender my original prescription?
No. Only a readable and uploaded copy of your prescription is required for your request to be processed.
Can I decide the quantity of medicines I will receive?
All MedEnsure refills will be delivered on a quarterly basis. Every refill may contain up to six months’ worth in compliance with standard clinical practice guidelines.
How would I know if my request went through?
You will receive a message on the status of your request within the next working day. If you do not receive a message from MedGrocer within two working days, reach out to us through maxicare.med@medgrocer.com.
What do I do if my request was disapproved?
The message you receive will contain information on the issues found in your request. Once the issue is resolved, you may submit a new request.
How do I modify or cancel my request?
To prevent miscommunication and minimize inaccuracies, requests are considered final upon submission. If you would like to modify your request, please submit a new request on maxicare.medgrocer.com/medensure/request.

MedEnsure: Health Survey

Why do I need to take a health survey?
Your answers to the health survey will be used to automatically renew your prescription. A completed health survey is required to deliver your medicine refill. Answering the health survey ensures you keep getting the medicines you need before you run out.
How often do I need to take a health survey?
You need to take a health survey whenever you submit a request for medicines and every time you pick up your medicines.
How do I get my vitals measured? (optional)
You may approach the clinic nurse on duty to assist you in measuring your vitals. Please ensure that you input your vitals measurements in the health survey correctly and completely in order to receive your medicines.

MedEnsure: Picking Up Medicines

When will I receive my medicines?
Most medicines can be picked up from the company clinic within 1-5 business days after verification.
Can my medicines be delivered to my home?
MedEnsure offers free home delivery. We can deliver nationwide to addresses covered by LBC and 2Go.

FlexMed: Claiming Reimbursements

How do I claim reimbursements?
To claim reimbursements:
  1. Click “Upload Receipts” on maxicare.medgrocer.com
  2. Upload official receipts and prescriptions (where required)
You will receive a message on the eligibility of your request within the next working day.
How many times can I claim reimbursement?
You may claim reimbursements for any number of times you wish provided that your limit has not yet been fully consumed, and that you upload and submit your documents within 30 days of purchase.
Do I have to surrender my prescription?
You are not required to surrender an original copy of your prescription for your reimbursement to be processed. Employee must a) upload digital copies of the prescription (if required) and b) submit the original copies of the prescription to Maxicare. However, submission of original receipts (hard copies) is suspended until further notice.
How much can I have reimbursed?
You may be reimbursed for up to your annual limit, provided that your reimbursement claim meets eligibility requirements. Visit maxicare.medgrocer.com/flexmed for more information on what is required for reimbursement.

For reference, annual FlexMed limit are as follows:
  • Officers: Php 5K/family unit
  • Supervisors: Php 4K/family unit
  • Rank and File: Php 3.5K/family unit
Which pharmacies can I buy medicines from to be eligible for reimbursement?
You can buy medicines from any local pharmacy. Make sure to ask for an official receipt so that your purchase may be reimbursed. Visit maxicare.medgrocer.com/flexmed for more information on what a valid official receipt looks like.
Do I need a prescription to request for reimbursements?
A valid prescription is required to process reimbursement claims if you are claiming reimbursement for any of the following:
  • Ethical drugs
  • Herbal drugs
  • Corrective/graded lenses
What is a valid receipt?
A valid receipt is any official receipt issued by a BIR-registered local pharmacy. It should show the following information:
  • Official receipt number
  • Pharmacy name
  • Pharmacy TIN
  • Purchase date
  • Breakdown of items purchased and subtotal per item
What is a valid prescription?
A valid prescription is a prescription issued and signed by a Maxicare-accredited doctor for the employee’s or their HMO-enrolled dependent’s own use.
How many receipts can I reimburse per transaction?
You may upload as many receipts as you need as long as they are valid.
How do I know if my reimbursement request is approved?
You will receive a message verifying your reimbursement claim within 10-20 working days. If you do not receive a message from MedGrocer within two working days, reach out to us through maxicare.med@medgrocer.com.
How long is the processing time for reimbursements?
Most approved reimbursement claims can be received within 2-15 working days after approval.
How do I inquire about my remaining balance for the quarter?
You may reach us through maxicare.med@medgrocer.com.

Special Requests

Can I have my dependent’s medicines fulfilled by the MedEnsure program?
The MedEnsure program only covers medicines prescribed to the principal. Dependents are not covered under the program, however dependents are covered under FlexMed.
Can I request for medicines via call/text/IM instead of the website?
MedGrocer’s ordering process has been streamlined in order to fulfill your requests. Please submit your request through the website for your convenience.
Can I request for one (1) year worth of medicines?
Clinical practice guidelines only allow medicines to be dispensed up to three months’ worth at a time. For exceptional cases, medicines may be dispensed up to six months’ worth.
Can I have my reimbursement transferred to me outside of the list of reimbursement options?
For security reasons, reimbursements may only be transferred using the options provided.
Can I have my reimbursement sent to an account that is not mine?
To minimize errors in issuing reimbursements, your reimbursement may only be transferred to an account named to you.
Can you deliver my reimbursement to my office in cash or check?
To minimize loss and ensure that you receive your reimbursement securely, your reimbursement may only be transferred through the options provided.

Returns

What is your return policy?
All products sold on MedGrocer are subject to quality checks by our purchasing, storage, assembly, and delivery teams. Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your medicines are damaged upon delivery, you may refuse to accept the medicines. On a case-to-case basis, we can process requests to return the medicines within seven days upon delivery. Please make sure that you keep your delivery receipt and the medicines you want to return.
What products will you accept for returns?
We will replace damaged or wrongly dispensed medicines.
Can I return an item after seven days?
Any problems encountered seven days after the delivery may not be accommodated under our Return Policy. We highly encourage you to review and inspect your medicines upon delivery so that our courier could immediately facilitate the return, exchange, or refund request.
How long is the processing time for returns?
In Metro Manila, return orders are processed within two to three working days. For provincial locations, return orders are processed within ten business days.

Privacy

What information do you share?
Only our pharmacists processing your enrollment have access to your medical information to ensure your reimbursement is processed. We may use anonymized data for analytics to improve our services or collaborate with partners.
